Mr. Ambition

Monday, February 14th, 2011

For all of us hopeless romantics, and fairytale dreamers, here is a poem dedicated to you.  We often get lost in what media currently conditions us to believe is a gentlemen.  Mr. Ambition may not be the perfect “Situation”, but he is what I was raised to believe to be a true gentlemen.  Please take a moment to read this mini fairytale creation called Mr. Ambition.

Mr. Ambition

Excuse me Miss you may not know me

I’ve been watching you for awhile now you see

Admiring you from a far, you’ve been my mission

Bonjour madam, my name is Mr. Ambition

Puzzled I was but intrigued to say the least

“Finally found you now, my missing puzzle piece”

I did not comprehend as I knew we had never met

His words were a mystery, he spoke and I was quiet

He described this journey he had been on for some time

He had studied me from a far and my smile he had to find

He was well versed in my work, what I loved and my mission

I can’t lie, I was beginning to thinkGood. of Mr. Ambition

He said he loved my thoughts, my drive and my tenacity

How could one not appreciate all that you have amounted to be

He knew of my broken hearts, and undeserving misfortunes

You’ve experienced multitudes of hurt beyond epic proportions

He had learned my story from which school I did not know

But it was very obvious he was attentive, definitely no average Joe

Line by line he recited as if he were the playwright

I became overwhelmed with feelings I could no longer fight

This was all well in good, but his intentions I still did ponder

Why so fascinated with me, still I couldn’t help but wonder

Though questioned, feelings of peace strongly came over my intuition

So I began to open my heart to the thoughts I had of Mr. Ambition

He gazed at me with eyes of unexpected familiarity

He had waited for this moment, for his desired opportunity

Organic was his touch, his kiss was soft and tender

Nights turned into days, and his promises were forever

Never left with the sun, his intervention was truly divine

Navigated through my maze, never did he waste any time

For every moment that we shared he genuinely cherished

Publicly he proclaimed his love for me would never perish

I did not know what to say then, and now I stand here and reflect

On an alter, with an emerald ring, staring at a man grateful that I met

More heroic than can be describe, a true fairytale vision

Now our kingdom awaits, as he introduces me as Mrs. Ambition

Thinking

When you think you’re beaten, you are.
When you think you dare not, you don’t.
When you’d like to win, but think you can’t
It is a sure thing that you won’t.

When you think that you’ll lose, you’ve lost;
For out in the world you will find
Success begins with a man’s will –
It’s all in the state of mind.

When you think you’re outclassed, you are.
You have got to think BIG to rise;
You have to FEEL sure of yourself
Before you can win a great prize.

Life’s battle does not always go
To the stronger or faster man;
But soon or late the man who wins
Is the one who THINKS he can.

Mapquest

Mapquest

I got a little lost trying to find my destination

Too many pit stops, and co-pilot rotations

Frustrated, had to park and figure this one out

Knew I was lost, had to change my stubborn route

Needed to regroup, it took a minute to realize

Tom Tom and Garmin, are bound to say some lies

Speeding round in circles from east to west end

Moral compass shouldn’t sway due to fashion or trend

Focused I decided to follow my own direction

No path would be easy or similar to perfection

Buckle up here I go, I’m ready for the ride

No more accidents, collisions, flat tires curbside

A new plan of action, gonna avoid the speed trap

Lil’ more aware, help from the legends on my map

Staying between the lines, within my jurisdiction

One mile at a time, easy anticipation and prediction

Too use to the tolls, lack of insurance and 407 bills

So I took the scenic route, even though against my will

No end point in sight, destination looks far and long

The journey starts now, the radio is playing my song

Sometimes you need to get lost, and let your ”breaks” go

Careful of your passengers, directions do they know?

No need for back seat drivers, annoyingly persistent

Together both should travel on the path of least resistance

Even though I got lost trying to find my destination

I found something far better, beyond my imagination

A love for the journey, by myself, shotgun or with others

I pray you find your destiny, for it’s yours to discover!

Free the Children Fundraiser

Tuesday, August 3rd, 2010

For the past month, many of our readers and close friends have been supporting the thinkGood. team by purchasing our delectable baked goods.  We have been tirelessly raising money to help build a community centre in a developing country through Free the Children.  Our co-worker and thinkGood. friend Sandra McCallum spearheaded what we hope to be an annual event that helps connect inspired youth working in summer camps, with children in need across the globe in a developing county.  Sandra and her team organized a fun-filled evening at E-Zone where we all participated in an evening of intense “friendly” competition, an abundance of laughter, and a personal opportunity to re-connect with some of the people who helped inspire this journey we call thinkGood.  What a great idea for a staff social!

Over the past decade I have witnessed great leaders like Sandra inspire a genration of youth year after year, summer after summer creating an environment where children are encouraged to laugh, engage in play and create lasting friendships that will help foster what we all hope to be a generation for positive change.  These fundamentals are exercised everyday through the passion that they and our other co-workers demonstrate by creating programs, services and going above and beyond their call of duty to help foster better communities, family kinship and childhood experiences for thousands of people throughout the city.

One by one, team by team, generation by generation we can help create a world where love, laughter, inclusiveness, play and a lifetime of wonderful memories reigns supreme for our global community.  To see how you can join in the fun, and help other children in need around the globe please go to the Free the Children website.

A special thinkGood. thank you goes out to all of our wonderful friends and family who purchased our apple pies and ‘nana’ bread.  Also a huge thanks goes out to Nena for being our chief of advertisement and PR. Nena helped us sell 23 apple pies and 18 ‘nana’ breads.  You rock!
