I AM SILENT

Wednesday, November 30th, 2011

On November 30th, go silent in solidarity with children who are denied their human rights and denied their voice.

I AM SILENT participants take a vow in solidarity with children who are being silenced by poverty and exploitation. Being silent is up to you to define. It can mean refraining from speaking, or not using email, or Twitter or text messaging. It can even mean not using hand gestures, note writing or any communication at all. You decide  what you’re comfortable with.

  • 300 million children under the age of 5 live in areas affected by armed conflict
  • 121 million children worldwide are not receiving a formal education. More than half of them are girls.
  • 215 million children are forced to work as child labourers
  • 1 in 3 children in developing countries are malnourished

So take the Vow. Take action.

Legendary Voice – Instrument of Change

Wednesday, April 14th, 2010

Yesterday, we posted an amazing song by John Legend, a gifted singer, song writer, pianist and champion of change. Yes, champion of change! You see, John Legend’s song “Show Me” shares a conversation with God about the state of the world and the individual’s place in it, and it’s these themes that ultimately led to creation of the Show Me Campaign.

The Show Me Campaign was designed as a platform to give people the opportunity to improve the world. The mission of the Show Me Campaign is to break the cycle of poverty through solutions that have been proven to improve people’s lives.

To hear more about the Show Me Campaign and John Legend’s work, please watch the AfriCare tribute to John Legend below.

We can’t help but shine the light on this amazing artist. What could have just been an inspiring song, is now a movement, and movement is action, action that is changing our world. Visit the Show Me Campaign website for more information on how to get involved. The word on twitter is, supporters of the Show Me Campaign may be lucky enough to have dinner with Mr. Legend!
