Bring wings to the weak and bring grace to the strong
May all evil stumble as it flies in the world
All the tribes come and the mighty will crumble
We must brave this night and have faith in love

I’m trying to find my peace
I was made to believe there’s something wrong with me
And it hurts my heart
Lord have mercy, ain’t it plain to see?

That this is a cold war
Do you know what you’re fighting for?
This is a cold war
You better know what you’re fighting for

Depending on who you ask, the state of music today is seen as anything from amazing to atrocious. While there are a lot of great entertainers, rappers, and singers I feel there are few artists  today that are putting out unique music that is actually art. One of those said few in my eyes is Janelle Monae who released her album The Archandroid weeks ago, but is still playing strong in my jukebox. Her music is emotional, inspiring and explores expressionistic future scenarios while examining ideas of love, prejudice and class. Take a listen to her song Cold War posted above. We’re fighting for the Good, do you know what you’re fighting for?

Happiness loves company too!

Oh, excuse me
*Ahem* *Ahem* let me clear my throat
So you can hear clearly every word spoke
Today I woke feeling lovely
Happiness overflowin’ knowin’ somebody loves me
Just think yesterday I was down and out
Now there’s not a single thing for me to frown about
And the same thing can happen to you
Smiling so hard my mouth look like a capital “U”

I want the sun to shine
All the time
Is that too much to ask
Oh, I want to have some fun
I want all my friends to come
Cause it’s now or never
Learn the words and sign together

C’mon lift me up (its a brand new day)
Open up a lil happiness today
So I can be someone new
C’mon and lift me up (to a better way)
Open up a smile on another face
So I can (feel something new)

Our blog promotes the GOOD in life but we’re also here to raise awareness about different social issues.  Working with children and youth on a daily basis has been one of the biggest factors in encouraging us to do our part to help change the world we live in.  If you’ve ever heard a young person share their thoughts about the future, their dreams and hopes, you’ve also worried about the world that our young people are growing up in. It’s time to make a change for the better, because without change the kids don’t stand a chance.  There are millions of children around the world who with just a little attention from a caring adult, a smiling face, and a little love, their lives would without a doubt, change exponentially.  Remember these young spirits don’t have to be on the other side of the ocean,  they’re right here in our neighbourhoods and communities!  The streets shouldn’t raise our kids, we should!

Sometimes it’s hard to grow
While livin in fear of the unknown
How can he ever give love
When no love is in his heart?
A child can barely see that i
Do worry bout tomorrow
And what it beholds,
He drowns himself
Deep down in his sorrow
Will you run or will you share your light
Tell a story of the live and try
See it when we’re given hope
That we know that we can grow
