The Lorax

Monday, April 26th, 2010

Trufulla trees, Brown Barbaloots, and Humming Fish; no we aren’t inventing new words here at thinkGood, these are all characters in the childhood classic Dr. Seuss story The Lorax. First published in 1971, The Lorax is a great story that educates youngsters about the environmental dangers of deforestation, and how important it is for individuals to care about our planet. The Lorax, a short yellow creature, is actually an advocate for the environment who “speaks for the trees” against the greedy corporate businessman the Once-ler. Dr. Seuss’ whimsical Brown Barbaloots, and Humming Fish are a part of the forest’s ecosystem that become endangered and displaced as their habitat is destroyed as the Oncler’s Thneed making business grows. The Lorax is definitely a classic Dr. Seuss novel filled with colourful characters, rhyme, and an important message. We encourage all of our thinkGood. readers to get their hands on a copy of The Lorax and share it with a child in their life! Take a look at our adorable thinkGood. supporter young Massimo enjoying story time with his Super Mom in the pics below!

Earth Day

Thursday, April 22nd, 2010

Today we celebrate a woman like no other, Mother Earth.  Like any woman we must remember to love her not objectify her.  She is not a commodity, but a thing of beauty.  Appreciate her, do not depreciate her.  Protect her, not neglect her.  Listen to her, she does not want to be ignored.  She will only get louder, for she’s been through this all before.   So why is it we hurt the ones who love us the most? Let’s show her some love, maybe even a double dose!

To find events for Earth Day in a city near you click here.

thinkGood. has committed to doing these thing for Earth Day:

  • Car Pooling
  • Turning off the computer if we are not using it
  • Driving at 90-100 km/ hr instead of 120, can cut fuel consumption by 20%.  Try it out!
  • No meat unless it is free range chicken or grass fed beef
  • Picking up as much litter as we can
  • Turning off all lights when not in use.

Wish us luck!

Food for Thought

Have you ever seen a documentary that changed your life? Well Food, Inc. just might! Food, Inc. educates its audience about corporate or factory farming -when food is produced systematically at the highest output and at the lowest cost i.e. fatter, faster, better, cheaper. It shows that meat and vegetables produced through this philosophy are unhealthy and environmentally harmful. Watch the trailer below for a portion of what the documentary has to offer. Stay tuned for a post on how you can help change the food industry!
