My Dream Home

Thursday, June 17th, 2010

When I was in Las Vegas I came across a channel I haven’t seen before called Planet Green.  I’m not sure if it’s because it is a budding new broadcast of sorts or I’m just late on this find.  Either way I’m just elated that I stumbled on one of their shows called World’s Greenest Homes.  Here is the segment from one of their episodes!  I would love to think my future home will one day compare to this!

Lucy Liu’s “Redlight”

Tuesday, April 6th, 2010

I am usually very critical of celebrities for their lack of social responsibility, but in watching Larry King Live last night I was more than impressed with the action and passion behind the celebrities on this episode.

Lucy Liu who many may know for her role in Charlie’s Angels and other television and movie productions, has taken on the role of narrator and co-producer, in order to bring awareness to the child slave trade industry in Cambodia.  Some of the details that she shares of what the children are subjected to participate in left me in tears.  As someone who works with children, and is such a loyal fan of the childhood experience, it was heartbreaking to watch.   With that said I commend Lucy for her commitment to taking action and utilizing her celebrity status in such a socially responsible way.

Redlight hasn’t been released in North America yet, but as soon as it is thinkGood. will be there to support it!

What Not to Wear

Saturday, April 3rd, 2010

TLC’s What Not to Wear is known for its hilarious footage of fashion mishaps, and amusing commentary from Clinton Kelly and Stacy London. Sometimes though, we get more than just an entertaining story. In season 7, episode 7 we watch Tamara, a 29 year old single mother from Atlanta, undergo a transformation that ensures her style and appearance match the beauty and strength of her character. As the episode unfolds, we find out that like many women, Tamara is a hero in disguise. It turns out that her sense of style is in part a rebellion against a past emotionally abusive boyfriend who tried to control what she wore. As we keep watching, we find out that not only has she moved on from an abusive relationship, she and a friend are now working together to open a non-profit organization for abused women. Her spunky attitude, confidence, and enthusiasm will help make her an amazing role model for women everywhere! It was great to see a do-gooder like Tamara look as fierce on the outside as she is on the inside!
