If you’ve ever moved, attended a flea market, or walked through Walmart during Christmas, you’ve probably questioned the amount of stuff we all consume. Well a group of artists called Tongue & Groove who focus on connecting with others has attacked this issue with a participatory art installation. The Fix-Em-Up Free Market invites you to drop off your unused items, items that need repair, or come in and find that something you may need. Individuals are invited to drop off items in need of a little love and staff will do what they can to bring them back to life, or tools are available for individuals to fix their own items.

The Fix-Em-Up Free Market merges art with environmentalism and encourages us to shop less and reduce reuse recycle more. The Whippersnapper Gallery at 594B Dundas Street W is where the exhibit currently runs from May 9th – June 12, 2011, but with its success hopefully they’ll find a more permanent home!
