Marsha Ambrosius, more commonly known as one half of the English soul sensation Floetry, has been slowly but surely making a name for herself as a solo artist. If you’re a fan of Good. soulful rnb her mixtapes are a definite must listen; especially her latest release Yours Sincerely. With her debut solo album Late Nights & Early Mornings soon to hit record stores, her video for the stirring track Far Away hit the internet this morning. At this point you may be wondering why we’ve decided to bring this video to your attention; what makes Far Away a Good. video? Well, rather than make an atypical relationship video, Marsha and her team put together a rather serious narrative about bullying and homophobia. The video not only raises awareness about these issues, but is a Good. example of an artist using her ability to reach many to raise awareness about social issues. But don’t take my word for it, watch below.
“Dear friends, every year over 1 million people commit SUICIDE. Some were BULLIED because of their SEXUALITY. I lost a friend to SUICIDE, and I’m asking all of you to support alternative lifestyles,” Marsha states. “Don’t put up with or join in with BULLYING. It’s time we become more aware in this WORLD. Take a responsibility to make a difference. So if my MUSIC can save one life, I’ve done my job.”
