Dream Love Cure – Skate 4 Cancer

Mainstream media is a great source of news for the most part, but sometimes it seems only the sensational and shocking stories make it to our eyes and ears while those more commendable stories take some searching and sharing to gain publicity. Since there’s been a rather unpleasant story floating around the media about a certain someone fraudulently raising money for the amazing cancer fighting charities out there, we at thinkGood. thought it would be nice to share a story about someone not so interested in dollars who is fighting the battle against cancer with nothing but GOOD intentions….They call him Terry Fox on wheels.

Rob Dyer is a young man with big dreams, and a bigger heart. After losing his mother, both his maternal and paternal grandmothers, and a good friend to cancer Rob set out to skate across North America in order to raise awareness and educate the public about the fight against cancer. By engaging youth with his honest and unabashed demeanor Rob’s goal is to develop healthy communities through education. Rob believes that right now the the cure is knowledge.

“We’re not going to raise millions of dollars targeting kids, because they don’t have money.  But they do have a mind and they do have a heart and those both are going to grow as they grow, and hopefully by giving them this at a young age, by the time they get older they’ll be able to do something about it when they’re in a position of power,” Dyer said.

Skate 4 Cancer’s focus is raising awareness, and not money…although they do sell some pretty awesome tees on their website www.skate4cancer.com, and you can purchase sneakers by C1RCA where all the profits from the sale of Circa’s Convert Skate4Cancer Shoe go to Skate4Cancer, which you can see here.

High fives all around to Rob and his team for having their hearts in a Good place.
