Lilith Fair is a music festival that features female artists exclusively and was founded by Canada’s very own lyrical songstress Sarah McLachlan. In the summers of 1997 to 1999 Lilith Fair raised over $10M for women’s charities throughout North America through donations from ticket sales. This year, Lilith Fair is set to comeback and continue to support women’s charities. The festival has also partnered with Reverb a non-profit organization that greens concert tours which means Lilith Fair will have a minimal eco-footprint. On July 24, Lilith Fair hits Toronto with artists such as: Mary J Blige, La Roux, Lights, Chantal Kreviazuk, Kelly Clarkson and Sarah McLachlan. For other tour dates and artist line-ups click here.
In 2003 McLachlan released her album Afterglow which contained the singles “Fallen”, “Stupid”, and “World On Fire.” Rather than shoot a conventional music video for “World On Fire”, McLachlan donated all but $15 of the $150,000 budget to various charitable causes around the world and then used the video to explain how it benefited the communities that received the money. Sarah McLachlan is always thinking Good. Watch the “World On Fire” video below.

If the song sounds strangely familiar at all to you it may be because it’s been featured in an OLG 6/49 commercial, the 2010 Vancouver Olympics, and So You Think You Can Dance. If you’re interested in hearing them live, Ash Koley will be performing at select Canadian dates of the concert tour we previously blogged about: Lilith Fair [...]
